Dinner at Stephen Starr’s Upland

Working in events has its perks. Global travel, a constant creative outlet and sometime luxurious meals at newly opened hotspots. As was the case at Upland tonight, the latest beauty from restaurateur Stephen Starr. Designed by the renowned Roman and Williams, the stunning main floor boasts high ceilings and natural oak along with walls of wine bottles and elegant glass jars of lemons and colorful peppercorns–all nods to the California town that inspired the restaurant. Flowing gratitude to the Director of Events Kim Cook for hosting us and choosing this spectacular spread. This impressive dinner by Chef Justin Smillie includes:

Pear pizza - stracciatella, pecan pesto, arugula + balsamic
Whole crispy mushroom - hen of the woods, cloumage + herbs
Blistered shisito peppers + bottarga
Burrata - trout caviar, crispy leeks + arbequina olive oil
Crispy duck wings - lemon, olive oil + yuzu kosho
Estrella - chicken liver, sherry, rosemary + sage
Roasted short rib (for two) - castelvetrano olives, walnuts, celery + horseradish
